Shop local, shop funky

The pandemic has been tough for all of us, but it has been brutal for small businesses, many of which had been forced to close their doors.

Others, such as Funky Mermaid and Pink Zebra, have miraculously managed not just to keep their doors open, but also to expand, all the while keeping conditions safe for their customers. Funky Mermaid 2, a mirror of its sister store, opened a few weeks ago at 1024 State Road A1A, Satellite Beach.

Kimberly McMillan and Mary Lou Diaz are the ladies behind these unique establishments that also offer local artists and crafters a much-needed venue for their works.

“Most everything in all three stores is made in the Space Coast,” said McMillan. “We encouraged women during the pandemic to explore their talents while forced to be home as to eliminate loneliness depression and anxiety.”
