A person alternative was a silhouetted hawk picture traveling above the term “BARNSTABLE” in red and black. The second was a a lot more abstract head of a hawk within a circle, all in purple and white, that was incorporated both equally in “BARNSTABLE” and just a “B.”

The subcommittee made a decision to stick with the idea of possessing BHS art pupils arrive up with the symbol style and design, Dunn explained.

Matt Kemp, BHS Artwork Department chair, has said “students would be providing sort of the inspirational structure before we send it out to technical gurus” for further more progress and final output, she said. “What you see tonight is that inspirational piece. … We can adjust whichever we experience need to be modified on the selections.”

The College Committee had voted in August 2020 to retire the school’s longtime Purple Raider title, emblem and mascot. Mayo-Browns mentioned she hopes “we can do some thing to unveil (the remaining alternative) when the young ones occur back again to school.”
