Cuba, the Caribbean island which gave us the iconic Queen of Salsa and Rumba Afro-Cuban Celia Cruz is viewing the increase of dance troupe Datway — a team of 16 dancers aged 18 to 32 whose fusion of dance designs with Africa-descended roots i.e. salsa, reggaeton and hip hop is creating waves across Facebook and Instagram.
Beneath a tin roof held up by walls lined in graffiti, the associates of Datway practice from Monday to Friday, shooting their video clips on weekends.
“Hip hop films from other nations around the world are usually (established) in these incredibly beautiful areas,” Datway founder Dariel Lopez, aka Chaiky Dari, instructed AFP.
“We generally glimpse for locations that are… properly not unpleasant, due to the fact for us they are not unsightly, but authentic — these balconies in require of a contact of paint, youthful persons and children who are not incredibly very well dressed,” reported the 23-yr-previous with his wild mop of hair, areas of it bleached blonde.
